This page should be read in conjunction
with our Farm Midwifery Workshop
Bursary Fund Page, which tells the story of this bursary! We are delighted
that, thanks to the help of lots of people, we are able to offer a bursary
worth £400 to a student midwife as part of the cost of our workshop at The
Farm Midwifery Center in Tennessee, USA. We have offered bursaries for the
2005, 2006 and 2007 workshops and another is now on offer for the 2008 workshop!
This award is open to all non-salaried student midwives who will be current
students on pre-registration midwifery courses at the time of application
(March 2008), and who will be on the same programme at the time of the workshop
(September 2008). Applicants will be required to complete an application form.
We ask you to give us the name and contact details of one of your midwife
teachers in order that we can approach them for a reference in support of
your application. One bursary is awarded each year, and this award is available
to pre-registration student midwives in any country, although unfortunately
we can only accept applications in English.
The application form can be accessed
here.
Please read all of the information on this site and on the form before filling
out your form on a word processor and then sending it to us via email.
The closing date for applications will be Friday 28th March 2008. This deadline
will be strictly adhered to, and no applications will be accepted after this
date, so please apply early to avoid disappointment and / or missing the deadline!
Judging will be carried out by an independent panel and the decision will
be made within four weeks of the closing date.
Any applicant who would like to come on the trip regardless of whether or
not they are awarded the bursary is welcome to apply and pay a deposit for
the trip through the usual route, in order to guarantee their place. (It is
possible that places may no longer be available after the bursary application
closing date, as the workshop fills on a "first come, first served" basis,
and the trip does tend to fill up quickly). However, one place on the trip
will be held open until after the closing date as the bursary fund is equally
open to applicants who feel they are only able to come if their bursary application
is successful. No distinction will be made between applicants from these categories
as far as the award is concerned. If the successful applicant is someone who
feels they are only able to come if their application is successful and the
communal accommodation is full by the time the bursary is awarded, the bursary
will be extended to cover the cost of accommodation in the small-group cabin
so that the applicant does not incur additional cost.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank
the midwives, students and others who are supporting this bursary by buying
raffle tickets at our workshops, ordering books on amazon.co.uk through this
web site, attending occasional charity events and making donations towards
this cause. It is their generosity which is making this bursary possible.
